- Step 1 - [deep conditioning]
I am what you call a “lazy natural”. I usually deep condition my hair once a week and sometimes once every two weeks. Don’t judge me.
~I first spray my hair with a green & peppermint tea mix. This helps moisturize the hair as well as cut back the amount of shed hair. All you need is green and peppermint tea (I recommend loose leaf) and add it to a pot of boiling water. Make sure you let the water cool down before you spray it in your hair. Learn how to make it here.
~After i’ve sprayed my entire hair with the mix, I separate my hair into four sections and add my deep conditioner. I use this one.
~I leave that sitting under a plastic cap for about 45min or overnight. It all depends on how I feel and how much extra moisture my hair needs.
- Step 2 - [Shampooing/Cleansing]
~I wash my hair in four sections because its just easier that way. I usually have about 3 shampoos and cleansers in rotation. this one, this one and this one. I honestly like the cleansing conditioners better than shampoos because they add extra moisture and my hair doesn't feel stripped after I use them. But we all need a deep clean every once in a while.
- Step 3 - [Conditioning & Detangling]
~After all the shampoo is rinsed out I add my conditioner. I have about 3 conditioners that I use on a daily. 1,2,3.
~One section at a time I add in the conditioner and begin to finger detangle.
~I finger detangle before I use a comb because its easier to get the tangles out and less hair will fall out. After finger detangling I go back over my hair with a comb to make sure all the knots and tangles are out.
~After all the tangles are out, I add in my leave in conditioner. I add my leave in while i'm still in the shower because the product sets better in my hair when its soaking wet. I have been using the same leave in conditioner for a while now, and I must say, its a keeper. You can find it here.
- Step 4 - [Styling]
~My go to style is a braid out or twist out, and I mix and match these 3 products to achieve this style. 1,2,3.
~I never do a wash and go because I feel like I just don't have wash and go type of hair.
~I usually style my hair at night to give it enough time to dry. After I braid or twist my hair, I put perm rods on the ends to make sure the ends stay curly while i'm sleeping.
And thats pretty much it! It may seem like a lot, but its pretty basic and straight forward. If you have any other questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below. Or hit my up on my social media: Twitter & Instagram.
